Sponsorship program (Children Aid Program)
Many children end up on the streets because their family is extremely poor. There is insufficient food and not enough money to send the kids to school. Through the sponsorship program, the entire family is helped, all in the interest of the child. The most important, long term help is that the school tuition is paid and the necessary school supplies provided so that they can get the education needed in order to give them a chance to escape poverty. To help their family compensate for the loss of a pair of hands in the fields (but the same amount of mouths to feed), the food bank supplies them with basic food aid. The families are also assisted with medical costs and mothers are given the chance to enroll in the micro-financing program to establish a small business and slowly establish their own income and ultimately, financial independence.
